Are you new to vaping? Do you want to become a vaper like the millions of others who currently enjoy doing it every day in the UK, but don’t yet have all the facts? If so, this short and sweet introduction to the world of vaping should help you begin your OXVA vape journey!
What does a vaping device consist of?
- The drip tip – you inhale from this
- Tank – where the e-liquid goes
- Coil – a cotton surrounded metal coil that will need to be changed regularly
- Battery – this heats the coil
What are the different types of vaping equipment?
- CE4 Kit – popular with beginners, this is an affordable and compact choice, although the affordability of Vape Pens has seen them wane in popularity
- Vape pen – still affordable and slightly bigger, their ohm coils tend to give more flavour and are compatible with a higher VG content.
- Mod and tank – these come in various designs and give longer lasting vaping.
- RDAs, RDTAs and Mechanical Mods – used by more advanced vapers, with RDAs, the e-liquid is dripped onto the coil and the device is fired up. RDTAs do hold e-liquid, unlike RDAs, and the coils can be built to suit the users preference. With Mech Mods, these use a firing pin to allow the
battery’s current to reach the atomiser directly, with no circuitry involved.
Methods of vaping
-
Mouth to Lung or MTL
With this method, vapour is sucked into the mouth before being inhaled into the lungs, closely resembling the method of smoking a traditional cigarette.
-
Lung inhale or (DTL)
Usually having bigger atomisers that have wider drip tips, this method involves the vapour being drawn into the lungs, while directly inhaling into the lungs.
What does e-liquid consist of?
Using base ingredients that typically include Propylene Glycol (PG) and Vegetable Glycerine (VG), e-liquid is combined with either artificial or natural flavours to provide you with something you can happily use every day with an OXVA Xlim pod kit. E-liquids may also be diluted with distilled water, and contain a ratio of PG to VG that varies from brand to brand.
What is Propylene Glycol (PG)?
Often used in food colouring and sometimes added to certain medicines, non-toxic Propylene Glycol gives you a pleasing sensation on the throat, similar to a hit, and has a consistency that’s not as thick as Vegetable Glycerine.
What is Vegetable Glycerine (VG)?
A sweet liquid made from vegetables that’s not as thin as PG, non-toxic VG enables the production of vapour, giving smokers (and non-smokers) a more authentic experience, and the more of it that an e-liquid contains, the smoother the vape.
Sub-ohming: what is it?
If a device has an atomiser coil with a resistance that’s less than 1.0 ohm, vaping on it is referred to as sub-ohming. For experienced vapers, sub-ohming gives a higher output of power, and helps to create not just more vapour, but more flavour from the e-liquid. More vapour is produced using this method, and sub-ohmers usually inhale directly into their lungs. E-liquids containing more VG than PG are favoured by those who sub-ohm, as larger and denser clouds of vapour can be produced.
