    HenryBy HenryNovember 28, 2023No Comments3 Mins Read

Sex crimes refer to crimes such as rape, sexual harassment, sexual abuse, etc. Sexual assault has many different types, so the legal definition varies from one state to another. However, if you are a victim of sexual abuse, you need to remember it is and was never your fault. Sex crimes are heinous in nature, and the perpetrator is subjected to the worst possible punishments if convicted.

Sex crimes can leave the victim traumatized for life. Some victims end up taking their lives because they fail to cope with the aftermath of the situation. It is extremely crucial to provide emotional support to sex crime survivors and make them believe it was not their fault because these crimes can alter a victim’s life forever. Speak to a criminal defense attorney immediately if you have been subjected to a sex crime.

Crimes that come under sex crimes

    • Sexual Harassment

Every person has the right to feel safe and comfortable in their work or learning place. Anybody who violates that right can and should be reported to the authorities. If you have been subjected to sexual harassment, do not hesitate to report the incidents and the perpetrator to the authorities at your local law enforcement.

    • Stalking

Stalking involves an individual following another constantly and keeping tabs on them. They could be following their victims to their homes, worksites, learning places, etc. They could be stalking them online through the victims’ social media. Learn how to identify stalking behaviors and take measures to protect yourself from potential harm.

    • Adult Survivors of Child Sexual Abuse

Child sexual abuse cases mainly involve a trusted person as the perpetrator. In child sexual abuse cases, the majority of the time, it is someone close to the child that violates them, like their teacher, family member, older siblings, etc. Children do not realize they have been violated until years later when they grow up to learn what behaviors and touches are acceptable. This is a significant reason why a lot of child abuse cases go unreported while it is happening until years later when the child grows up to be an adult and starts asking for justice.

    • Using Technology to Hurt Others

There are often cases of spiteful exes leaking private sexual pictures or videos of their exes online to get revenge or simply harass them out of spite. This is a form of sex crime and can take a toll on the victim’s mental health, even driving them to take their own life.
